Historical houses and windmills
Netherlands, Zaandam. Early morning in the Zaanse schans. A farmer and some visitors in front of the cheesefarm named 'De Catharinahoeve'. At the left the windmills named 'De Poelenburg' and at the back 'windmill 'De Kat'. The Zaanse Schans is one of the top tourist attractions of the Netherlands. It is an enchanting old hamlet with a cluster of windmills and houses, that gives an excellent impression of how this area looked like in the 17th and 18th century. It belongs to the village Zaandam and is part of the Zaanstreek or Zaan area.
